Summer Soiree on Lake Leelanau

Ceremony in Leland

Chloe & Matt’s time in northern Michigan over the years has centered on Lake Leelanau so it was only fitting in their search for a wedding venue that they should choose a spot on their favorite lake to celebrate.

Their weekend kicked off on Thursday with Lake Day – pontoon boats at the sandbar followed by a food truck BBQ at the family’s Lake Leelanau home. Friday featured a more intimate rehearsal dinner followed by a welcome reception on the Leland Lodge patio.

On Saturday, after getting ready at the charming Leland Lodge cottages, the bridal party headed down to historic Fishtown for photos along the wooden docks. They regathered at a lovely church just a few blocks away where the wedding ceremony was performed by a kindly local pastor with music from a string trio. An acrylic welcome sign with raised gold lettering adorned in luxe floral was a statement design piece at the entrance. Guests tossed rose petals on the newlyweds when they came out of the church to take a ride in the family gator with beer cans from local breweries trailing behind them.

As guests made their way to cocktail hour down the road at Fountain Point Resort, Chloe & Matt made their way to a marina where a wooden boat awaited. They rode thru “the Narrows” and down Lake Leelanau to arrive at their reception by boat.

Lawn Moments

Stella, an Italian Piaggio Ape converted into an adorable keg truck was a hit all evening with its selection of brews on tap. Shelves of Cosmos & Old Fashions greeted guests at cocktail hour. Aperol Spritz named after the family dog Stella, was the featured drink for dinner thru the reception.

The reception bar and the Stella bar both featured a custom crest that Sable & Gray had painted for invitations and that we enjoyed using throughout the reception space. Guests found their table on a silver framed mirror adorned in stunning floral, leaned against one of the trees. Later in the evening, a cigar station was set atop the groom’s special WhistlePig whiskey barrel.

The Cleartop Tent of our Dreams

Chloe & Matt’s reception tent was a scene from our dreams. In fact, it came together even better than we had dreamed which says a lot because Chloe and her mom invested love and intentional thought in decisions as we designed together. Shades of pink with pops of playful blue and accents of gold came to life in the stunning floral (shout-out to Field of Flowers North), in sweet vintage floral bread & butter plates, textured blue goblets next to gold-rimmed champagne flutes, blue wave textured napkins framed in gold beaded chargers with gold flatware, and in a menu with the custom floral crest tied in blue chiffon ribbon and accented with a cherry. Blue taper candles on gold stands, gold chivari chairs, crystal chandeliers, an epic floral chandelier over an epic cake, and blush chiffon drape all added glamour and romance to the scene.

The crowning experience, by all accounts, was Collision Six Band, rocking out the dance music. Neighbors around the lake said it was like a concert (and they loved it). Guests said it was like a concert (the kind of high energy front row vibes concert) and they couldn’t get enough of it. The band leader still talks about it. Party weekend of our dreams.
