Lake Leelanau Wedding at Fountain Point Resort

Plee and Victor are a thoughtful fun couple whose Lake Leelanau wedding weekend was a highlight of my summer and an absolute honor to coordinate.  I’m thrilled to share some exquisite photos from the incredibly talented and equally delightful Dionne of The Shooting Gallery Photography.  And hats off to Amanda and her team from Colonial Events for extensive rental coordination and days of setup which were almost as fun as the party itself (for us).

Plee and Victor exchanged their vows under a towering maple tree at Fountain Point Resort.  Situated on the idyllic shores of Lake Leelanau, this collection of quaint summer cottages around a charming historic hotel with breakfast served daily from a food truck is staffed by one of the most gracious and accommodating teams I’ve had the pleasure of working with.  From one of the gardeners staying up until 2am to make bows for the porch flower baskets, to the housekeepers who paused to re-situate valuable rowing boats safely away from our tent, to the much appreciated Sunday morning coffee delivery, our six day presence was kindly welcomed with every effort to make Plee & Victor’s weekend amazing.

At the ceremony, jars of baby’s breath hung from stately tree branches over weathered wine barrels which boasted a profusion of floral beauty.  From the porch, a string trio featuring Don Julin on mandolin, set a fun and festive vibe.  A basket of programs designed by Holly Thomas Design incorporated the natural textures, blush tones, and delicate lace elements of the wedding, welcoming guests to a meaningful ceremony experience crafted by Rev. Julie Chai that featured a dove release and the traditional Jewish breaking of the glass.

From a colorful game room off the white-columned porch, guests found drinks and an inviting spread of appetizers to enjoy as they mingled on the lawn, relaxed on modern wicker couches or around boxwood cocktail tables under a canopy of bistro lights at the lakeside lounge, or meandered down to take in the view from rocking chairs on the dock as water gently lapped the shoreline.

When cocktail hour ended, guests were welcomed into a graceful tent elegantly draped in soft fabric and warmly lit in blush tones, under a leaf pattern-lit ceiling and striking wagon wheel Edison bulb chandeliers.  Sprigs of lavender from a local farm accented each place setting, complimenting the lovely centerpieces from Teboe Florist.

An exquisite three course dinner masterfully prepared on site by Chef Tommy and his team from Chandler’s was expertly served with the attentiveness of a fine dining experience.  Course selections personalized to each guest were displayed in photostrip frames which guests could then take to the open air photobooth from Freeze Frame Lounge where loads of props created an entertaining interactive corner.

The woodland-inspired cake from Bella e Dolce was a northern Michigan masterpiece, complete with fondant mushrooms and birch bark texture, surrounded by a decadent collection of truffles and macaroons and beautifully displayed on a wine barrel table from Sweet Themes.

Dance lessons paid off with smooth moves and an appreciative audience as Plee & Victor opened the dance floor for a night of celebration so wildly enjoyed that the party was extended for another hour as guests reveled in the exciting musical energy of Mac Daddy Band.
